Stuck inside dreaming of a snow day? Whip up a batch of fluffy baking soda snow using just two simple ingredients - no cooking required! This magical sensory recipe creates soft, moldable snow that's perfect for building mini snowmen, exploring textures, and bringing winter wonder right to your kitchen table. Great for short winter days when you need quick indoor fun!
Carefully measure your ingredients into a large mixing bowl. For the baking soda, we prefer the scooping or spooning method. Carefully fill your dry measuring cup, then level it off using the handle of the spoon to measure exactly 1 and 2/3 cup. For the conditioner, use a liquid measuring cup and fill to the 100 mL (milliliter) line. You may need a rubber scraper to get all of the conditioner back out of the measuring cup.
Use a spoon to mix the ingredients together really well. Then, use your hands to mix it the rest of the way. When it's done, it should feel like dry snow. The mixture will be a little crumbly, but stick to itself if you shape it into a ball with your hands.
Unlike real snow, this snow will never melt! Like most doughs and slimes though, it can dry out. To store it, put it in an air-tight container or a plastic zip-top storage bag. It should last for about one week. You can add a drop or two of conditioner or water to revive it if it gets too dry. We do NOT recommend playing with this dough on carpet, as it is very crumbly and is easy to grind into surfaces. Clean up is relatively easy - simple soap and water or spray cleaner will remove it from everything we tested.
