About This Project
Create your own gingerbread house ornament! Use craft sticks to build the walls, then decorate your candy-colored roof and add a door that opens. Hang your finished house on the tree or turn it into a fridge magnet for everyone to admire. Each house is one-of-a-kind—just like you! Add your favorite colors and decorations to make it extra sweet.
Steps
Print the printable
Print the attached printable. One printable page will make two gingerbread houses.
Cut out the rectangle
Cut out the rectangle first.
Glue popscicle sticks
Glue the popsicle sticks to the rectangle. It works best if you put the glue on the paper and lay the popsicle sticks on top. Set it aside to dry.
Cut and color the roof and door
Color the door and roof however you'd like, then cut out both pieces.
Fold the door
Fold the door in half. The dashed line section will become the back of your door. The solid line is the front.
Draw your picture inside
Draw a picture of yourself inside the door.
Glue it together
Glue the door and roof to the wall of your house.
Add hanger
Cut a short piece of yarn and tie it into a loop. Glue the yarn to the back of your house. Let it dry, then hang it!
