This craft helps you remember how wonderful our world is and how important it is to take care of it. You will make a picture of the Earth with a heart on it.

A 20–40 minutes craft for ages 3–10, using supplies you likely already have — Pom Poms, Scissors, and Disposable Plates.

    Make Earth Day Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
    "Are you as excited to make this as I am?"

    Step 1: Make a puffy heart

    Cut a heart shape out of the middle of one paper plate. Color the heart with your pink or red marker. Then, use white glue to stick mini pink or red pompoms all over the heart. Let the glue dry completely.

    Step 2: Create the Earth

    Take the other paper plate. Use your blue marker to draw shapes on the plate that look like land. These do not need to be perfect! Then, use your glue stick to put green tissue paper squares on the land shapes and blue tissue paper squares on the water areas. If any tissue paper pieces stick up, gently press them down with more glue stick.

    Step 3: Put the heart and Earth together

    Once the glue on your heart is dry, use Elmer's glue to stick the heart onto your Earth plate. If you want to hang your art, ask a grown-up to help you cut a pipe cleaner in half and make a loop. Then, glue or tape the loop onto the back of your Earth.

    Step 4: Add a special poem (optional)

    You can write a poem about Earth Day or use the one below. Ask a grown-up to help you write or type it out. Cut out the paper with the poem and glue it onto your Earth. Treat the world well. It was not given to you By your parents. It was loaned to you By your children. -Kenyan Proverb

    Clean up

    Put things away so your space is tidy for next time.

    Check off each supply when it is put away — and any clean-up tips underneath are done too. You might find a fun surprise!
