Get Your Bug Template Ready

First, ask an adult to help you download and print the bug craft template onto a piece of paper. You can choose to make a dragonfly, a butterfly, or a bee! Use your colorful markers or crayons to color your bug. If you do not have a printer, you can draw your own bug on a piece of paper. Make sure it is about 4 to 5 inches wide.

Attach Your Bug to a Clothespin

Next, cut out your colored bug. Then, take your glue stick and put glue on the top of a clothespin. Carefully place your bug on the clothespin so its wings are over the part that opens. Press down firmly and let the glue dry a little bit.

Add the Flying Strip

Now, cut a thin strip of paper from the scraps, about half an inch wide and three inches long. Turn your bug over so it is facing down. Put glue in the middle of the paper strip and stick it to the top of your clothespin, right where the wings are. Then, put glue on each end of the paper strip and stick them down onto the wings of your bug. Make sure your bug stays flat while you do this. Press firmly and let the glue dry.

Make Your Bug Fly!

Your flying bug is ready! Hold the clothespin and squeeze it open. Watch as your bug's wings flap! You can add more fun things to your bug, like pompoms for its body or colorful tape. Make it your own!
