Fox Craft

Make a sweet fox craft using paper plates, paint, and construction paper. This is a fun and simple project that you will be proud to make.

About This Project

A 10–20 minutes craft for ages 3–7, using supplies you likely already have — Sharpie Markers, Pom Poms, and Scissors.

Step 1: Protect your table from paint

Lay out newspaper on your crafting surface to protect it from paint.

Step 2: Cut the head shape

Take one paper plate and cut a triangle with curved sides into the bottom half to make the fox's head shape.

Step 3: Paint the Body

Place both plates onto the newspaper, bottom side up. Use pompoms or a paint brush to paint the plates orange. Add white paint highlights on the side of the face. If you do not want to use paint, you can use crayons or markers instead.

Step 4: Cut out the Fox ears, legs, and tail

Download and print the fox craft template. Cut out all of the parts for your fox out of orange construction paper, except for the nose, which will be black. Optional: Tap paint white accents onto the tops of the paws, ears, and tail. You can also do this with a white crayon instead.

Step 5: Put the Body Together

Cut a tab, about 1 inch wide, into the paper plate that will be the body of your fox. Put glue on the tab and attach the head.

Step 6: Make the Fox Face

Use the glue stick to attach the nose to your fox at the very tip of his face. Then, add the googly eyes.

Step 7: Add the Legs and Tail

Use the glue stick to put all of the legs on your fox craft. Next, add the tail. You can have it curve around the body or snip off the end and have the tail come straight out from the body of your fox.

Step 8: Add the Ears

Take one of the cut-out ears of your fox and overlap the 2 sides at the slit. Glue it in place so that it stays curved. Glue the ear in place. Repeat for the other ear.
