About This Project

A 20–40 minutes craft for ages 3–10, using supplies you likely already have — Yarn, Tape, and Pom Poms.

GlueStick supports kids from setup to cleanup. After they choose a project, we guide them through gathering the supplies, making it, and cleaning up when they're done. We'll even help them share it safely with trusted family and friends.

Ad-free and kid-safe library — designed by a mom who wants kids to explore and create independently.

    Make Horse Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
"Let's stick together and make this one!"

Step 1: Make a triangle with popsicle sticks.

Glue three large popsicle sticks together to make a triangle shape. Use Elmer's glue. Let the glue dry completely before you move to the next step.

Step 2: Paint your popsicle stick triangle.

    May need grown-up help
Put newspaper down to keep your table clean. If you don't have a paintbrush, you can make your own! Pinch a medium pompom with a clothespin to make a paintbrush. Squeeze a little brown paint onto the newspaper. Paint your popsicle stick triangle brown. Let the paint dry completely.

Step 3: Add the paper triangle.

    May need grown-up help
Use the horse template to cut out a triangle shape from brown construction paper. Once your painted popsicle stick triangle is dry, use a glue stick to attach the brown paper triangle to the back of it.

Step 4: Cut out horse parts.

Print the horse template. Use scissors to carefully cut out all the horse pieces from the template. Ask a grown-up for help with scissors if you are not sure how to use them safely.

    Step 5: Finish your horse.

Use your glue stick to put all the paper horse pieces in their places on your triangle. Glue on the googly eye. Cut small pieces of white yarn, about 3 to 4 inches long. Tape these pieces to the back of the horse's neck to make its mane. You can trim the yarn to make the mane the perfect length. This is a great way to practice using scissors!
