Race adorable inchworms across your table! All you need is paper, scissors, and a straw to make these super fun, super speedy toys.
Cut a strip of paper about 1.5 inches wide and 8 inches long.
Fold the strip in half by bringing the short sides together.
Open up your folded strip of paper, then bring one edge to meet the center line. One side of your strip should be full length, and the other side should be half as long.
Fold the first half of your caterpillar in half one more time by bringing the folded edge to the center line. It should now be 1/4 the size of the unfolded half.
Repeat the process on the other side. Fold the edge of the unfolded half to the middle. Fold. Bring the folded edge to the middle and fold again. Your inchworm should now have eight equal folded sections.
Give your inchworm a more rounded shape by using a scissors to trim the corners. It can be tricky to cut through 8 layers of paper. Get a grown-up to help if needed.
Use a pen, marker, or crayons to give your inchworm a funny face.
For the best inchworm racing, you'll want to aim your straw near the top of the third segment from the back. Make it easier to know where to target by drawing a star or heart on your inchworm's backside.
