Painted rocks are an awesome craft for easy outdoor fun, and these little turtles are practically begging to be your new garden friend. We've experimented with a bunch of different materials for coloring them. The good news is, lots of different things work! We had the most luck with paint pens, sharpies, and acrylic paints, but crayon can also work for backgound color. The best rocks for painting are the smooth, water-worn rocks typically found by rivers, lakes, or the ocean. If you can't find these kinds of rocks near you, you can purchase them from a craft or landscape store. White rocks are the easiest to paint on, but black and brown also work.
