About This Project

Step 1: Prepare the paper plates for your bunny pouch.

May need grown-up help

Take two paper plates and stack them together. Cut a straight line across both plates, about one inch above the middle. Keep the top pieces you cut off, as you will use them for the bunny's ears later. Turn the two main plate pieces so their cut edges face each other, creating an opening. Line them up carefully. Ask an adult to help you use the hole punch to make one hole on each side of the top opening. These holes will be for the handle.

Step 2: Make the bunny's pouch - Option 1

With the cut edges of the two plates facing each other to form an opening, use the stapler to staple all around the curved outside edge. This will create a pouch for your bunny.

Step 3: Make the bunny's pouch - Option 2

If you want a more advanced look, punch holes about half an inch apart all around the outside edge of the joined plates. Then, use white yarn to lace the plates together through these holes. You can use a couple of staples first to hold the plates together while you punch the holes.

Step 4: Give your bunny a face.

Glue or stick the googly eyes on your paper plate bunny. You can put them close together or far apart, it's up to you! Next, use the black permanent marker to draw a cute nose and some eyebrows on your bunny's face.

Step 5: Add the bunny's ears.

May need grown-up help

Print out the bunny craft template and ask an adult to help you cut out the ear shapes. Trace these ear shapes onto the leftover pieces of paper plate from Step 1. If you don't have a template, you can draw your own ears! Use a pink marker to draw the inner part of each ear. Then, use your glue stick to attach the bunny ears to the top of your paper plate bunny.

Step 6: Add a bow to your bunny.

Take your third paper plate. Cover the bottom middle part of this plate with washi tape. Decide if your bunny will have a large bow or a small bow. Use the bunny craft template to cut out your chosen bow shape. Trace the bow onto the back of the paper plate where you put the washi tape. Cut out the bow. Then, use your glue stick to attach the bow to your bunny.

Step 7: Make a handle for your bunny purse.

Ask an adult to help you cut three pieces of white yarn, each about two yards long. Hold the three pieces of yarn together and tie knots about six inches apart along the yarn. Make sure the handle is a good length for you to carry. For a fancier handle, you can braid the three pieces of yarn together before tying them into the holes instead of knotting them. Tie the ends of the yarn into the holes you made in Step 1. Trim any extra yarn.

Step 8: Add an optional fluffy tail.

If you want to give your bunny a fluffy tail, use Elmer's glue to attach a large white pompom to the back of your bunny purse. This will make your bunny extra cute!
