Make Paper Plate Cat Craft

Messy Mode

Print and cut out template pieces.

Find and print the cat craft template. Use the template to cut out all of the cat's parts from construction paper. Choose colors that you like for your cat. For example, if you want a calico cat, use mostly white paper with some brown and black for the parts, and pink for the nose.

Decorate your cat's body and parts.

Lay out some newspaper on your crafting table to keep it clean. Place your two paper plates and the cut-out ears and legs on the newspaper. Choose your favorite paint colors. Then, paint your cat in any design you like using pompoms. If you don't want to use paint, you can use crayons or markers instead.

Attach the cat's head to its body.

Once the paint is dry, cut a one-inch tab in one of the plates. This plate will be the body of your cat. Fold the tab up a little bit and put a lot of glue stick on it. Attach the other plate (which will be the head) to the tab, pressing firmly so the glue holds it tight.

Attach the cat's legs.

Use your glue stick again to attach the cat’s legs to its body.

Add the nose, snout, and eyes.

Now it’s time to make the cat’s face! First, glue the nose onto the snout piece. Then, add the snout to the bottom half of your cat’s head. Finally, place the googly eyes on the head.

Attach the cat's ears.

Take one of the cat’s ears and overlap the two sides where there is a slit. Secure it with your glue stick. Then, attach the ear to the top of your cat’s head. Do the same thing with the other ear.

Draw whiskers and other details.

Give your cat some fun details, like whiskers and eyebrows (or anything else you want!) using your black Sharpie marker.

Make and attach the tail.

To make the tail for your cat, twist together three pipe cleaners in colors you like. Ask a grown-up to help you fold over one end slightly and squeeze it so it is not sharp. Tape the tail in place on the back of your cat and give it a little curl.
