    Make Paper Plate Frog Craft

    Your creative buddy says:

    Step 1: Paint the paper plate green.

    May need grown-up help
    First, lay out a piece of newspaper to keep your work area clean. Place your paper plate upside down on the newspaper. Squeeze some green paint onto the newspaper. Paint the bottom of the paper plate green. If you don't have a paint brush, you can make one by pinching a pom pom with a clothespin! You might need to paint it twice to make it nice and green. Set the plate aside to dry completely.

    Step 2: Print and cut out frog template pieces.

    While your painted plate is drying, print out the frog craft template. Carefully cut out all the template pieces. Then, place these cut-out shapes onto your green construction paper and trace around them with a pencil. Now, cut out the shapes from the green construction paper. If the shapes are tricky to cut, ask a grown-up to help you with your scissors.

    Step 3: Add light green tissue paper spots to the plate.

    Once your green paint is dry, use your glue stick to make little dots of glue all over the paper plate. Try to leave about one-quarter of the plate empty; this will be where your frog's face goes. Take a light green tissue paper square and place it on each glue dot. You can press down any loose pieces of tissue paper if you like, but it's okay if they stick up a little!

    Step 4: Glue the frog's legs onto the plate.

    Now it's time to give your frog some legs! Use your glue stick to attach the two back legs to the bottom part of your paper plate frog. Then, glue the two front legs onto the sides of your frog.

    Step 5: Attach googly eyes to the frog's eye cutouts and then to the plate.

    Take your frog eye cutouts. Fold the bottom edge of each cutout about half an inch. This folded part will help you glue them on. Stick one large googly eye onto each of the eye cutouts. Finally, use your glue stick to attach the folded part of the eyes to the top of your paper plate frog.

    Step 6: Make and attach a curly red tongue.

    Let's make a long tongue for your frog! Cut a long, thin strip from your red construction paper. Make one end of the strip round. Now, wrap the paper strip around a pencil to make it curl like a real frog's tongue. Glue the straight end of the tongue to your frog's face.

    Step 7: Add details with markers.

    To finish your frog, use the green marker to draw outlines around the edges of its body and legs. You can also add some extra spots to the frog's legs. Lastly, use the black Sharpie marker to draw two little nostrils on your frog's face. Remember to ask a grown-up for help if you are using a Sharpie marker.
