Paper Plate Sheep Craft

Make a fluffy paper plate sheep! You will use cotton balls to make its wool and a special template to cut out its parts. This craft is fun to make and looks like a real farm animal.

    Make Paper Plate Sheep Craft

    Your creative buddy says:
    "Let's stick together and make this one!"

    Step 1: Paint one paper plate black.

    First, put some newspaper down to keep your table clean. Place one paper plate upside down on the newspaper. Pinch a pompom with a clothespin to make a 'paint brush'. Squeeze a little black paint onto the newspaper. Dip your pompom brush into the black paint. Paint the bottom of your paper plate black, but leave the top part unpainted. This unpainted part will be covered with cotton balls later. Let the paint dry completely.

    Step 2: Cut out the sheep's legs and ears from black paper.

    While the paint dries, print out the sheep craft template. Ask an adult to help you print the template, then cut out all the parts for your sheep from black construction paper. You will need 2 ears and 4 legs. Make a small cut, about 1 inch long, in the middle of the bottom of each ear. If you don't have a printer, you can draw 4 rectangles for the legs and 2 ears, then cut them out. Remember to make the small cuts in the ears.

    Step 3: Staple two paper plates together.

    Once the black paint is dry, take your two paper plates. Put the unpainted part of the first plate (the one you painted) together with the second plate. Staple the two paper plates together. This will make the sheep's body and head. Ask for help with the stapler if needed.

    Step 4: Glue the legs and ears onto your sheep.

    Now it's time to put your sheep together! Use your glue stick to attach the four legs to the bottom of the second paper plate (the body part). Press them down firmly and let the glue dry a little. For the ears, where you made the small cut, overlap the sides a little bit and glue them together with your glue stick. Do this for both ears. Then, use your glue stick to attach the ears to the front paper plate, near the top.

    Step 5: Glue cotton balls onto the sheep's body and head.

    Get your Elmer's glue. Make swirly lines of glue all over the second paper plate, which is the sheep's body. Gently pull apart the cotton balls to make them fluffy. Stick the fluffy cotton balls onto the glue, covering the plate. Add more glue if you need to. Do the same thing for the top of the sheep's head, going around the ears and onto its forehead. This makes your sheep fluffy!

    Step 6: Add eyes, a nose, and rosy cheeks to your sheep.

    Now, let's make your sheep's face! Glue the googly eyes onto the front of the sheep's head. If you have paper eyes, cut them out and glue them on. Cut two small strips of gray or white paper and glue them in an 'X' shape for the nose. You can also cut two small pink circles and glue them on for rosy cheeks. Add any other fun details you like!
