    Make Paper Plate Sleeping Cat Craft

    Step 1: Paint your paper plate

    May need grown-up help
    First, ask a grown-up to help you spread newspaper on your table. This will keep your table clean from paint! Put your paper plate upside down on the newspaper. Squeeze some orange paint onto the newspaper. Pinch the soft pompom with a clothespin. This is your special paintbrush! Now, tap the pompom all over the bottom of the paper plate. Make it look like soft cat fur. Let the paint dry completely before you touch it again.

    Step 2: Cut out your cat's head and tail

    May need grown-up help
    Ask a grown-up to help you print the cat craft template. You can choose any color paper you like for your cat's head and tail! If you don't have a printer, ask a grown-up to help you draw a cat's head and a curvy tail on your construction paper. Use your paper plate to help you make the tail curve just right. Carefully use your scissors to cut out the head and tail shapes.

    Step 3: Make your paper plate into a cozy cat body

    SHARP! Grown-up required
    When your paint is all dry, ask a grown-up to help you cut a line in your paper plate. Start cutting from the edge and go all the way to the middle. Now, gently push one side of the cut over the other side, about one or two finger-widths. This will make your paper plate look like a cozy cone shape, like a cat curled up! Ask a grown-up to help you use the stapler to hold the cone shape together tightly.

    Step 4: Add the head and tail to your cat

    Now it's time to make your cat come alive! Use your glue stick to put glue on the back of your cat's head. Stick the head onto the paper plate cone, right over where you stapled it. You can leave the top of the ears unglued so they stick up a little bit. Next, put glue on the back of your cat's tail. Stick the tail onto the plate, making the end curl up towards your cat's face. You can leave the very end of the tail unglued too, so it looks like it's wagging a little. Great job! You made a sleeping cat!
