About This Project

Make a cute pot of gold from a recycled fruit or yogurt cup. A sneaky Leprechaun might leave you some yummy treats inside!

Steps

Clean the cup

Wash and dry the plastic cup.

Make holes in the cup

Ask an adult to help you punch two holes on each side of the fruit cup.

Paint the cup

Ask an adult to help you spray paint the fruit cup with black spray paint. Let it dry. Repeat until the cup is completely coated.

Make the handle

Push one end of the pipe cleaner inside the fruit cup and fold it so it makes a spiral large enough that it won't slip out of the hole. Repeat on the other side.

Glue ribbon to the cup

Glue the ribbon to the top of the cup. You may want to cut two pieces of ribbon for each cup so the ribbon does not interfere with the pipe cleaner.

Decorate the pot

Decorate your pot of gold with sequins, shamrock stickers, pom poms, glitter pens, and glitter. For small details, it may be easier to put the glue in a lid, and use toothpicks to apply the glue.

Add gold

Put Rolo candies wrapped in gold foil or chocolate gold coins in your pot of gold.
