Make Super Strong Snow Dough

Measure your ingredients

Carefully measure your baking soda, corn starch, and water into your mixing bowl. This will be challenging! Corn starch and water makes a very special type of slime called oobleck that has properties of both a solid and a liquid, which can make this dough challenging to mix up. We recommend mixing it until smooth in your mixing bowl first, then pouring it into the sauce pan to ensure it's mixed evenly before you begin cooking.

Cook the dough

After dumping the dough mixture into a medium sauce pan, ask your grown-up for helping cooking the dough on medium-low heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly. It will start fairly runny, but quickly start balling up into a dough. This dough has a tendancy to stick to the corners and bottom of the pan, so make sure you scrape the sides well.

Let it cool, then knead

Once your dough has cooked up into a ball, put it back into the mixing bowl to cool. When it is cool enough to handle, knead the dough until it is soft and easy to shape.

Storing your dough

This dough is great for building all sorts of snow-related structures. We built an ice cave for our favorite building block snow princesses and a snowman for outside. What will you build for your toys to enjoy? To store the dough, put it in an air-tight container or zip-top plastic bag for up to a week. If it dries out (this dough does dry out fairly quickly) add a few drops of water at a time until it is pliable again.
