About This Project

A 40–60 minutes craft for ages 3–10, using supplies you likely already have — Scissors, White Glue, and Craft Sticks.

GlueStick supports kids from setup to cleanup. After they choose a project, we guide them through gathering the supplies, making it, and cleaning up when they're done. We'll even help them share it safely with trusted family and friends.

Ad-free and kid-safe library — designed by a mom who wants kids to explore and create independently.

Make Valentine Candy Heart Shaped Crafts

    Your creative buddy says:
"I can't wait to make a project with you!"

Step 1: Build a Triangle Frame

Place the 3 large popsicle sticks in a triangle shape. Secure at each intersection with a drop of Elmer’s glue. Set the frame aside and let it dry.

    Step 2: Color the Hearts

Trace around the outside of a triangle frame onto construction paper. Then cut about 1/4" inside the triangle. Then use a black crayon to write a candy message on your heart shaped crafts and color the triangles to match your chosen paint colors. If you have a printer, you can also print the messages and cut them like we did.

    Step 3: Paint the Frame

    May need grown-up help
Spread out the newspaper and place the triangle frame on the newspaper. Squeeze out a bit of paint in a matching color to what you have colored your candy heart onto the newspaper. Paint the triangle frame and set it aside to dry.

Step 4: Cut out the Hearts

While the paint is drying on the frame, cut out the hearts.

Step 5: Create the Heart Effect

Cut out small triangles from the scrap of white (or black) construction paper. The height of each triangle should be the width of a popsicle stick. Glue the little white triangles on top of the upside down triangle frame to turn your triangles into hearts.

Step 6: Add the Candy Heart Message

Glue the cut out and colored triangles onto the back of the popsicle stick triangle frame using your glue stick.
