Very Easy Paper Flowers with a Ladybug

Make beautiful paper flowers in your favorite colors! You can even add a cute little ladybug to one of the petals. Make a few flowers to create a lovely bouquet and put them in a special flower pot you decorate yourself.

    Make Very Easy Paper Flowers with a Ladybug

    Your creative buddy says:
    "I can't wait to make a project with you!"

    Step 1: Prepare your paper for the flower.

    Take a piece of construction paper. Fold it in half the long way (hot dog), but make one side a little bit longer than the other. Make small cuts along the folded edge. Make each cut about as wide as your finger. Do not cut all the way through the paper; leave about an inch at the bottom uncut. Unfold the paper and then refold it the long way again, but in the other direction (aka invert it). It should still be a long hot dog shape, but the crease of the fold should be in the inside. Glue it in place with your glue stick.

    Step 2: Roll your cut paper into a flower shape.

    Put glue along the uncut edge with your glue stick. Now, start rolling the paper tightly from one end. You can use a pencil to help you start rolling it. Once it's all rolled up, use a couple of pieces of tape to hold it together so it doesn't unroll.

    Step 3: Create your ladybug decorations.

    Put your metal brads on a paper plate. Ask a grown-up to help you squeeze a little bit of black and red paint onto the plate. If your metal brad is not red, paint it red with the red paint and a Q-tip. Let it dry completely. Once the red paint is dry, use the tip of a pencil dipped in black paint to add little black dots and a head to make it look like a ladybug.

    Step 4: Make a pot for your flowers.

    Take a paper lunch bag. Use your markers to draw a fun design on the front, on the bottom half of the bag. This will be your flower pot! After you draw your design, open the bag and fold down the top edge about three times.

    Step 5: Assemble your flowers and ladybugs in the pot.

    Once your ladybug metal brads are dry, push the pointy part of the brad through one of the petals of your paper flower. Then, place your finished paper flowers into your paper pot. About three flowers will fit nicely in one pot.
